A sync mark used when a scene beings in action or from an extreme close-up, making it difficult to slate from the beginning. After the director has called “cut,” the slate is clapped, upside down, to give the editor a sync mark.

A slate done at the end of a shot as opposed to at the head.

take

A photographic record of each repetition of a scene might be photographed more than once in an effort to get a perfect recording of some special action.

Takes up the film after it has been exposed.
